Assassin’s Creed Origins and the $800 Collector’s Edition

Assassin’s Creed Origins gets a ridiculous collectors edition.

Just when you thought that video game collector’s editions couldn’t become any more absurd, Ubisoft today announced seven versions to choose from when purchasing Assassin’s Creed Origins—all of which are available for pre-order now on the Ubisoft Store. Naturally, as per Ubisoft’s now commonplace practice, you will have the Standard, Deluxe, and Gold editions; on top of those three, there is the God’s Collector, Dawn’s Collector, and for those with the deepest of pockets or dedication, the most expensive, Dawn of the Creed Legendary edition. You must be wondering what could surely justify an asking price of $800—which is $500 more than the collector’s edition of Middle-earth: Shadow of War—and Ubisoft have provided a comprehensive overview of what is included in the ultimate collector’s edition.

If you want to get your hands on the Dawn of the Creed Legendary Edition, you’re going to have to act quickly; it’s limited to 999 copies—with only 200 of them available in North America—and it is exclusive to the Ubisoft Store. Bad news for Amazon Prime or Best Buy Gamer Club members looking to save 20% on their purchase.

There is a bit of good news to share, though. For anyone who wants the statue and doesn’t want to fork over close to $1000, both the God’s and Dawn of the Creed Collector’s editions, which are priced at $119.99 and $159.99 respectively, contain the Bayek and Senu statue. For more information on all seven editions of Assassin’s Creed Origins, head over to the Ubisoft Store.

Assassin’s Creed Origins launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 27, 2017.
