Watch out web heads, the first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is here. As you can expect from a superhero movie, the trailer is packed with lots of action and close up shots of our costumed hero.

Peter will be facing not one but three villains in the movie. Electro played by Jamie Foxx will be making his film debut in a Spider-Man film as well as the Rhino (played by Paul Giamatti). Hell even the Green Goblin makes an appearance in the movie, or Hobgoblin- we’re not exactly sure who plays him. Putting all Spider-Man 3 jokes aside we’re not too worried about the movie being bad. The first one was a step in the right direction, especially with the casting choices. Andrew Garfield definitely plays the part of Peter Parker well and let’s not forget about Emma Stone who plays Gwen Stacy. All great actors who bring the comic book characters to life.

So what is The Amazing Spider-Man 2 about? The first one introduced OsCorp which deals with experimental science, cross-species genetics and military research – which opens up the possibilities of new villains being introduced. The trailer teased Doc Ock and The Vulture, leading up to the rumored Sinister Six movie – pretty much Spider-Man’s Avengers, who needs those guys anyways, right Peter? If this all plays out right, the Amazing Spider-Man universe can further expand and explore all of Spider-Man’s different villains and stories. There’s a lot of great source material to go off of.

The sequel will focus on Peter struggling between his responsibilities of being Spider-Man and the obligations of being an ordinary teenager. It’s kind of hard mixing both high school and crime fighting. If Peter thought the Lizard was a challenge before; then he’ll be pretty disappointed when he finds out there’s more people out to get him, like his old friend Harry Osborn. Electro and Rhino will be making an appearance in the movie as well. To what extent we’re not sure. But it revolves around OsCorp in someway. Balancing three villains can be something of a challenge, but if they revolve around the same plot then it should work for the most part. Cramming in a hundred different plots and characters into one single movie is pretty overwhelming and mostly never works. This is why it’s good to balance things out beyond one movie. Hence why we get sequels. Whether they’re good or not is up to the screenwriters to figure out.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in theaters May, 2014.
