The movie star famous for his role in Transformers and Indiana Jones, Shia LaBeouf sheds light on his arrest.

The exploits of Shia LaBeouf off the camera have been well cataloged. The former face of the Transformers franchise has done everything from assaulting his neighbor back in 2005 to refusing to leave a Walgreens in Chicago in 2007. While he’s had the chance to play many different roles for directors like Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay, his life outside the camera has been truly challenging for him. Many child stars such as Lindsay Lohan have struggled with these issues, especially some of the ones coming out of Disney like Lohan and LaBeouf. It seems a strange trend to think Disney, which produces some of most positive films out there, could start someone down such a negative path. Yet, LaBeouf and Lohan are merely a few of the young Disney stars that have had issues once they’ve gotten into the spotlight. As of late though, LaBeouf came clean after his most recent brush with the law.

LaBeouf had been arrested in Savannah, Georgia for public drunkenness, obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct. He was able to post his $7,000 bail but it added to his already long rap sheet. Yet, he finally came clean about the problems he’s been facing. As opposed to other occasions where he blamed people and was antagonistic toward others, he took the chance on Twitter to come clean about what exactly has been happening with him.

“I am deeply ashamed of my behavior and make no excuse for it,” LaBeouf wrote. “I don’t know if these statements are too frequent, or not shared often enough, but I am certain that my actions warrant a very sincere apology to the arresting officers, and I am grateful for their restraint. The severity of my behavior is not lost on me.”

His apology seems much more genuine than when he hired an airplane to sky-write “I’m sorry, Daniel Clowes” after he copied a story from Clowes for his short-film HowardCantour.com despite Clowes receiving no credit for the work or when he decided to perform his #IAMSORRY piece. However, this apology seems to be not only a bit more genuine but honest too, which could seem to indicate his need for the best alcohol rehab.

“My outright disrespect for authority is problematic to say the least, and completely destructive to say the worst,” LaBeouf said “It is a new low. A low I hope is a new bottom. I have been struggling with addiction publicly for far too long, and I am actively taking steps toward security my sobriety and hope I can be forgiven for my mistakes.”

The ironic thing about LaBeouf is he never seemed the type to have any internal struggles. He did a fantastic job of playing many different characters from one of the great historic American golfers to a teenager struggling with familial issues while attempting to protect his mom from a serial killer neighbor. He also has not seemed ever to be someone who did not enjoy what he did. Yet, being thrust into the spotlight cannot come easily to anyone.

At 31-years of age, the actor is probably used to having all of his personal life and any struggles being broadcast on national television. Yet, the lack of privacy could have something to do with why exactly the actor is the way he is today. It could worsen his addiction and need for a best alcohol rehab. LaBeouf still has plenty of fans and has gotten work, despite his private addiction issues or has he calls them “public.” People like Robert Redford have cast LaBeouf because he is a good actor and that’s something that cannot be ignored.

Hopefully, LaBeouf finally gets the help he needs. His struggles are real but his fans don’t want him to quit acting because they know he’s got plenty of talent to show the world. He has many movies left to make. Can LaBeouf come back? It would be great to see him back in a Transformers movie after Transformers: The Last Knight implied something most fans were upset about.
