PlayStation's weekly Photo Mode roundup picks its best Wolverine villains — now it wants your best outfits

No big reveal here — just Sony's regular community shout-out, this time for snaps of Sabretooth, Mystique and friends from Marvel's Wolverine.

What actually happened

PlayStation has published its latest “Share of the Week” post, a recurring community feature on the official PlayStation Blog rather than any kind of game announcement, patch or sale. This week’s theme was “Allies & Villains” from Marvel’s Wolverine, and Sony picked out six Photo Mode shots submitted via the hashtags #PSshare #PSBlog on Twitter/X and Instagram.

The selected images include a face-off with Omega Red, a portrait of Jean Grey, Sabretooth squaring up to Wolverine, a shot of Mystique, a showdown featuring Lady Deathstrike, and a moody portrait of Nathaniel Essex (better known to comic readers as Mister Sinister). It’s the kind of fan-curation post Sony runs most weeks, crediting individual social media users by handle rather than real name.

So who is actually at risk — or affected

Nobody, in the “risk” sense. There’s no bug, no breach, no security issue and nothing to patch. This is a marketing and community-engagement post, and its only real-world consequence is for the handful of players whose screenshots got picked and for anyone curious about what Marvel’s Wolverine’s Photo Mode can do. If you own the game and like taking in-engine screenshots, this is relevant to you. If you don’t, it changes nothing about your week.

It’s also worth being clear-eyed about what these roundups are: a low-cost way for a publisher to keep a community active in the gap between bigger pieces of news, and a gentle nudge to post using an official hashtag that Sony can then mine for marketing material. That’s not a criticism exactly — it’s a fairly standard industry practice — but it’s not “news” in the sense of a product launch, discount or technical change either.

The next theme, if you’re the screenshotting type

Sony has already set the next prompt: “Marvel’s Wolverine – Suits,” asking players to share their favourite in-game outfits using the same #PSshare #PSBlog tags on Twitter/X or Instagram. The submission window closes at 11:59 PM PT on 14 October 2026, so anyone wanting a shot at being featured next week needs to post before then. As ever, there’s no prize beyond the feature itself and a small boost in visibility.

What to do about it

If you’re playing Marvel’s Wolverine and fancy your Photo Mode skills, snapping your favourite suit and tagging it correctly before the 14 October cut-off is literally all that’s required to be in the running. Everyone else can safely treat this as exactly what it is: a light community post, not a development that changes anything about the game, the console, or your plans. No action needed, no urgency, and nothing here to be sceptical of beyond keeping expectations realistic about what a “Share of the Week” actually represents.
