PlayStation's Share of the Week goes swimming with 'Water' theme
Sony's weekly Photo Mode roundup makes a splash - but don't mistake it for anything more than a nice scroll through fan screenshots.

Sony has published the latest instalment of its long-running Share of the Week series on the PlayStation Blog, this time built around the theme of “Water”. That’s it - that’s the news. No new features, no console reveal, no patch notes. It’s a curated set of Photo Mode screenshots submitted by players using the #PSshare #PSBlog hashtags, picked out and republished by Sony’s content communications team.
This week’s six highlighted shots span a decent spread of PlayStation’s back catalogue: a reflective vista in Forza Horizon 5, Snake wading through marshland in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Jin pausing by a river in Ghost of Tsushima, Aloy trudging through deep water in Horizon Forbidden West, a beach view from Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and Sam crossing a creek in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
Who is actually involved here
Worth being clear-eyed about the scale: this isn’t a competition with prizes, rankings or any official recognition beyond appearing in a blog post. It’s a community-driven feature that Sony has run for years as a low-cost way of spotlighting player creativity and keeping its blog ticking over with engagement. The “winners” get their handle credited and their screenshot embedded - nothing more.
It’s also worth noting that being featured says nothing about photographic skill being judged against some objective standard; it’s a curation choice by Sony staff, based on whichever shots caught their eye that week. If you didn’t get picked, that doesn’t mean your screenshot wasn’t good.

The bigger picture
None of this changes anything about PlayStation hardware, software or your library. It’s a marketing and community feature, not a product update, and shouldn’t be confused with anything that affects game performance, pricing or access. If you’re the kind of player who already fiddles with Photo Mode settings for fun, this is a pleasant, low-stakes way to have that effort acknowledged. If you’re not, nothing here requires any action - the games themselves, and how they play, remain entirely unaffected by whether Sony decides to feature a screenshot of a river.
